چکیده
In the Netherlands, potential damage to building stock due subsidence phenomena has recently received increased awareness. However, evaluating and predicting buildings in subsiding areas is a complex task that requires associating vulnerability of exposed structures with intensity hazard. Considering widespread presence subsidence-related built heritage, focus this study provide empirical-based insights assess forecast masonry buildings. A rich dataset manual levelling measurements was collected comprising 386 surveyed buildings, mainly low-rise (terraced) houses before 1950. Of total set 122 cases rest on shallow foundations 264 piled foundations. For each building, recorded related settlement, calculated from bed-joint measurements, using four different parameters, namely differential rotation, relative rotation deflection ratio. These parameters are appraised their capacity effectively predict damage. The Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) method used evaluate efficacy selected hazard parameters. (angular distortion) ratio observed as most accurate when damage, while settlement appears less accurate. Additionally, generate empirical fragility curves where probability described function aforementioned Thresholds were distinguish between light functional structural state. At 1/500 reach or exceed 13%, 5%. availability bed joint made it possible classify eight recurrent profiles, including both symmetric asymmetric associated overall deformation rigid rotations

Assessment of Structure-Specific Fragility Curves for Soft Storey Buildings Implementing IDA and SPO Approaches
Soft storey building is popular due to the functional and aesthetic purpose, despite its weakness in resisting seismic excitation. Nonlinear Static (Pushover) Analysis (POA) is a time saving and simple assessment procedure prosposed in Eurocode 8 (EC8). However, its reliability in designing structure still remains a question. At the first stage, seismic performance of several building models us...
متن کاملConfidence Bands for ROC Curves: Methods and an Empirical Study
In this paper we study techniques for generating and evaluating confidence bands on ROC curves. ROC curve evaluation is rapidly becoming a commonly used evaluation metric in machine learning, although evaluating ROC curves has thus far been limited to studying the area under the curve (AUC) or generation of one-dimensional confidence intervals by freezing one variable—the false-positive rate, o...
متن کاملROC Curves for Steganalysts
There are different approaches in the literature for the assessment of steganographic algorithms and steganalytic attacks. In the early papers it was considered sufficient to show the existence of an effect for one or a few examples only. The more the area of steganography evolved, the more diverse became the goals and the harder to measure the improvements. Many branches of science are facing ...
متن کاملInvestigating Efficiency of Shotcrete for Retrofitting Masonry Buildings
One of a feasible and efficient method to retrofit structures is spraying shotcrete which is widely applied around the world. Shotcrete is concrete with fine aggregates which are sprayed through a hose and by air pressure coat at high velocity onto a surface. In the current research, three masonry schools from different regions of Iran are selected. The retrofitted wall surfaces have been prepa...
متن کاملFragility Curves for Reinforced Concrete Frames with Lap-Spliced Columns
Placing column lap-splice in the locations of possible nonlinear deformation may adversely affect the structures response to strong ground motions. Localization of damage in splice zone may change the structural response and prevent the load redistribution and development of a uniform pattern of nonlinear excursions among the various members. Validated by existing laboratory experiments, this s...
